The Indian Tatters

Hello!
Not studying much!
Whatever!!!!
Today I've started a new Group on the e-tatters
It is to know people closer around me who tat.
Please join this group so that I don't feel so lonely doing this
work all by myself and nobody to talk to about it!
(I do love all the attention and love that my
International friends have showered upon me- and I can't thank them enough!)

So much to do......so little time!!!!!!!

I've been running around like a busy squirrel lately.
No time to sleep too!
Fell down the stairs fo the hospital on saturda morning
and got a big bruise on my bum.
Don't worry it's not hurting much but looks ghastly(not that anyone can seeit!).
My cousin is getting married on 28th,
and today is the Ladies Sangeet and the Mehndi function.
Two more sleepless nights!
The only consolation is that my dear hubby got me
the beautiful (read expensive;) ) sarees.
Even though there's a big hole in the pocket,
I'm so delighted -I can't wait to wear them!
got a new hair-cut too.
Next two weeks I've got to open my books,
got to freshen up my medical knowledge also sometimes!
I've got an important interview coming up.
So, not much time left for tatting..........
Will be back.....

Jane Eborall and Georgia Seitz have beautiful tutorials on this.

THANKS!

Thank you so much for appreciating my garden.
There it is on the snowflake now.

Flower Garden!

So,it's done!
Motif #8 for the 25Motif Challenge.
I've been on it for almost three days now.
Finally I completed it!
This is a little tatted flower garden made in one go with
encasulated ring as the base and little little things cropping out of it.
I planned to put it on a snowflake kind of base
but it just didnt look as great as without it.
It's about two inches in diameter.
Was it worth the wait?

Blocked Lock

Trying out the Block tatting technique today.
Centre of this lock is the Jane Eborall technique,
And the outside rings from Martha Ess.
This is my first attempt and as I was doing it my MIL asked me if I
was making a Lock.
sort of looks like that?

Cluny & Encapsulation (#7 Motif)

My husband wouldn't give me the computer
So sat down to try out something with what I learnt today.
Encapsulation, three shuttle tatting and clunies(that was of course yesterday)!
Its really difficult keeping 3 shuttles separate and away from each other!
The third thread in the cluny was easy to figure out.
And ended up making this pretty and delicate bracelet.
The clasp thatI had is a little bulky for this little thing.
Motif #7 for 25 Motif Challenge!
.

Cluny motif

At last I can now make reasonable cluny leaves.
I think I was pulling the wrong thread.
The pattern for this motif is from here.
The instructions on the site by Steph Peters use the pinkie too;
that was a little confusing.
I held the loop instead like you do it for the SCMR.
Got to try the HCL now.
What if I submit this as #6 for The 25 Motif Challenge.

Cluny efforts

This is not easy at all!!!!
No two leaves come out the same!
Thread breaks every other pull!
Somehow my browser not opening much pages on Cluny leaf tatting!
DISASTER!!!!!!
But I won't give up.

Cluny basket-#5 for 25 Motif challenge

Thank you for appreciating my efforts!

So, I'm trying to learn something new every day!

Today I tried the cluny.

Well, it's my first attempt and obviuosly it was not right.

But I went on and made it into a little bookmark.

It looks like a samll basket of flowers?

So be it.

#5 for 25 Motif Challenge.

Headache

I haven't touched my shuttles today.
i'm having a bad headache.
Had a hectic day yesterday & had to attend to a patient at night.
She delivered at 2:15AM ,so I couldn't sleep much.
I wonder why God sends Babies to earth mostly at night!

Evolution-To #4 of Motif Challenge Entry!

Remember I told you I learned about the folded ring thing and Iwould use it.
Well,I did!
Infact, I also learned the daisy picot by Jon.
And the BDS.
Using all of these one by one I ended up making this.
Let me show you the evolution.........

So, how's the experimentation?

I'm so glad with myself!!!:)

#3 for 25Motif Challenge

I saw this beautiful butterfly pattern on Teri Dusenbury's

site on e-snips and loved it right away.

She's made some lovely things.

The peach and cream butterfly is made using #20 Anchor Mercer crochet thread.

Made some little changes in the original pattern;

like used the ball thread instead of two shuttles for the wings-

the ring at the wing points is made using the ball thread.

So this is my entry No.3 for the 25 Motif Challenge.

Vaasu playing with my threads

video

This is my baby playing with my threads.

He learned the Jingle bell song at his play school

and made jingle bells of the thread balls!

In the background is my husband playing Far Cry-2.

And I'm trying to tat the third motif for the 25 Motif Challenge.

Had to do something with the remaining threads!
Little squares fromPriscilla tatting Book-1 again.

#2-25 Motif Challenge

Completed the other motif.
It's a little doily with some celtic element.
Didn't have a pattern so did whatever I could think of.
But I think the stitch count fell into place.
I'm getting tired of this red and green thread;
next I'll get some new colors.
How I wish I could do HDTs.

#1 For 25 Motif Challenge

Presenting ........
My first entry for the 25 motif challenge!
This is a pattern from THE one and only and my fav
I was wanting to make a square thing for long;
so did this.
The corners were a little difficult to make but then after much trial and errors
I made it!
I modified the pattern a little bit .
Instead of making the corner motifs separately
did it with split rings.
still didn't know what to do with the ends
(but you can't see them;) )

Holidaying!!

I'm back today from a very hurried holiday.
We went to Shimla on Saturday and were supposed to come back yesterday but it snowed and rained!
we coudn't have driven back in that kind of weather!
My sister and her family had already left on friday
and we just sort of followed them there!
It was really fun.
The best part was that just when we were about to start back
somehow my sis's youngest(2yrs)
locked himself in the car with the keys inside!
Atleast he enjoyed it a lot.
ultimately we had to call a keymaker to open the car.
So obviously couldn't tat much. But still while
my husband drove and my son slept I tried to tat a little.
I didn't have any pattern with me so did just
whatever I could think of.
I'm so excited to join the 25 motif challenge;
maybe one of these is going to be my first motif!
I tried an attempt at making a celtic snowflake but the centre
rings were a little large .
Dosen't matter I'll do something .
See you later.

Eva!!!

I was trying to add a central bead in the ring and made these two pairs.
My earlier attempts at the procedure were so bad I thought I would never be able to do it.
At last I've succeeded!
You know why I've named them EVA?
Remember WALL-E movie;
The female robot is called Eva.
The earring resembled it so much and therefore so named.
